Acupuncture is an effective holistic healthcare treatment. It promotes natural healing and balance within the systems of the body. It can enhance recuperative power and immunity, support physical and emotional health, and improve overall function and well-being. It is a safe and effective way to treat a wide variety of medical problems.
Acupuncture Visits at Breath of Life
Your first acupuncture visit begins with a consultation which includes questions about your health history as well as a brief examination. After this evaluation, you will receive your first acupuncture treatment. In most cases, needles will be in place for 15-20 minutes.
Each follow-up acupuncture appointment includes: an update of your history, brief evaluation, and acupuncture treatment. In most cases, needles will be in for 15-20 minutes.
There is an art to acupuncture and each practitioner brings their own unique style. The theory and emphasis to my practice of acupuncture is that we are able to heal and adapt best when we are relaxed. I aim to get each patient into a comfortable position and the needles as pain free as we can. In this way the session can be as impactful as possible to one’s health.Dr. Katie Donovan
Express Acupuncture (AKA Drive-Thru Acupuncture) is a convenient option to help support your body’s energies. Great for those who are on-the-go, but still want to see results. Express acupuncture allows for a brief consultation and update of your history, evaluation, and placement of semi-permanent needles in the ear(s). These semi-permanent needles are much smaller than typical acupuncture needles and are designed to embed temporarily in the ear tissue. Although the visit will last around 15 minutes or less, these needles will be in place for 2-3 days or longer as your body determines.
Not sure how to best support your body? Try picking from our curated menu of acupuncture points: BOOST to give your immune system a helping hand, CHILL to help with anxiety and stress-related symptoms, or BREATHE to support respiratory function.
Dry needling targets knots or “trigger points” within the muscles. We use microfilament acupuncture needles to help break up these knots by bringing blood and energy flow to the area. Dry needling helps decrease pain, and improves range of motion.
*A note for your comfort…
For dry needling appointments, please be sure to wear clothing that makes the affected areas easy to access. Feel free to bring clothes to change into. We also have gowns available to wear or to use for draping to keep you covered and comfortable.
